Steve Apling Memorial Service

Steve Apling, former chair of the Central Neighborhood Council, passed away in late December.  Steve was a  great leader. He was a guiding light in the Hilltop. He illuminated the rest of our neighborhood council area as the longest-serving Chair in the history of the Central Neighborhood Council.

His memorial service is Feb. 4th 3:00p.m. at Peace Lutheran Church, 2106 S. Cushman Ave, Tacoma.  A reception will follow. Please consider joining us to celebrate Steve's life.

Franklin Park Monthly Work Parties

FranklinPark9:00am - noon, 2nd Saturday Each Month

Metro Parks Tacoma, the Central Neighborhood Council, and the Friends of South 12th Street neighborhood group have joined together to clean up and improve Franklin Park (S. 12th St. & Puget Sound Ave). We have monthly work parties and we need a few helping hands. Bring your work gloves and your “can do” attitude.

Work parties have addressed the overgrown wooded area at the northeast corner of the park, trimming up trees and removing brush that creates an unsafe and unattractive environment. Our long term goal is to create a walking and jogging path that loops around the entire park. Help us clean up, maintain, and transform our neighborhood park!

Art on the Ave.

The Sixth Avenue Business District holds an annual "Art on the Ave." event on the second Sunday in July (so, July 10, 2011). The CNC normally mans a booth at that event to promote participation in our neighborhood council.  Click here to jump to the "Art on the Ave." page on the Business District's website.
